HitMix Radio

Trinity students had the privilege of recording their own advertisement on HitMix Radio this week. They also had an insight into the running of a live radio show. Thank you to Robbie Benson and all the staff at the HitMix for looking after our students. We look forward to the advertisement, which is for the open evenings going live later this month on 107.5 FM.

Keele Induction Day

Year 12 Trinity students attended an inspiring induction day at Keele University this month. The event included a theatre performance from 2engage Theatre Group, entitled “University Challenge”, a Science lecture “To infinity and beyond” by Scott Walker, Ogden Science Officer and an inspirational talk from Nicola Minichiello, who overcame many personal hurdles to become World Bobsleigh Champion and Triple Olympian.

Special thanks to Higher Horizons who also organised a market place of Universities to show our students what they can achieve when they leave the sixth form.

Youth Saint Vincent de Paul Society

Youth Saint Vincent de Paul
Youth Saint Vincent de Paul

The SVP (Saint Vincent de Paul) group has been up and running since September 2014. The pupils get involved in many activities around school, such as the Year 6 Induction Day, the Year 9 retreat afternoons, the Year 8 Vocations Day and they also write and deliver assemblies to the lower school students.

This year they have also written and delivered their own Stations of the Cross service to all students in the main school, during their RE lessons.

As well as these activities in school the pupils also get involved in outreach work, having undertaken some volunteer work at a local care home and at the Dougie Mac Hospice, where they support the lottery department.
It is hoped that going forward, they are able to support in the residential care section of the Dougie Mac hospice also.

The group are very good at coming up with their own thoughts and ideas, with two of our pupils successfully organising a Henna workshop for the school where pupils could pay £2 for a small, non-permanent Henna tattoo to be applied to their hand.

This raised over £200 for the SVP twinnage scheme which is the charity the girls chose to support.

Trinity Sport Leaders

Trinity Sports Leaders were selected to volunteer at one of the biggest disability football tournaments in Europe at St George’s Park, Burton. Among other tasks they had to escort players onto the pitch and support with the smooth running of games. It was an excellent opportunity and they really did step up to the challenge, receiving positive feedback from staff at the Football Association and other governing bodies.

Student in Sutton Trust

Adam NashCongratulations to Adam Nash (Yr 12) who has been selected to take part in the Sutton Trust’s USA summer school programme.
Thousands applied for the scheme from across the country and following a rigorous selection process, including a weekend selection course in London, Adam has been chosen to be one of 75 students who will travel to the USA on 31st July for a week of visits to some of America’s top universities including The Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Harvard.
Ultimately, this will pave the way for Adam to apply to one of these prestigious universities for his undergraduate studies.
Adam says ‘ I am really looking forward to experiencing the American University system and aim to apply to do a Physics degree in the USA. Ultimately, I would love to develop a career working for NASA’

Well done Adam, from all of the Trinity Sixth Form
